Sweet & Savory Saturdays #7

We had 44 links last week!  That must mean you are telling your friends about this party!  I hope you are meeting new bloggers & making new friends.  I feel like I am getting familiar with those of you who link up every week.  I love the creativity & talent you all share!

I usually have a silly story each week, but so far my children are starting to behave & nothing has broken in our house recently.  WAIT!  Scratch that!  Our towel holder broke off the wall in the master bedroom.  And it ripped off some paint because apparently it had been super glued to the wall from the people before us.  I guess we are not the only not-so-handy homeowners around.

Maybe this house is just bad luck?  I don't know, but in the almost 7 months that we have lived here we have had 5 problems.
  1. The water pressure valve needs replaced.  Learned about that little problem before we even moved in.  I was at our house to let in the carpet cleaning guy while it was still empty (before we moved in) & the water did not work AT ALL.  That was fun & embarrassing.  We still need to fix that one actually.  We adjust the pressure every now & then when it starts acting up.  We even have the part to replace it, but have yet to change it b/c it looks like we would have to solder some pipes & stuff & we are not plumbers.  That scares us a little bit.  So we are still researching until we feel comfortable or the water stops running completely on us again.
  2. Water leak from our bathtub into the living room ceiling.  We ended up changing the water spout/faucet, but I think the re-caulking did the trick.  We waited like 1 1/2 months to make sure no more water was leaking before paying to have the ceiling fixed, which after watching the guy, I probably could have done it myself.  Oh well, next time!  But hopefully there isn't a next time.
  3. There is a leak in our front porch that dribbles into our basement only when it rains/snows hard.  I have no idea where the crack is that is causing the leak, but it's in an unfinished part of our basement & only happens with crazy wet weather, so I think we are going to just let it be & put the bucket there to catch the spill when we need it.
  4. The over-the-range microwave was old & started sparking & catching food on fire.  We bought a new one & even mounted it ourselves which was very self-fulfilling (see last week's story.)
  5. The newest problem is the hole in the wall & ripped paint from the towel rack that fell down in our master bedroom.
I guess our first year of ownership is keeping us on our toes, to say the least!
